Akoda Nari Kabuto, also known as Akoda-gata are a type of samurai helmet that received its name from its akoda melon or pumpkin-like shaped appearance, particularly as the back of the helmet bowl has a pronounced raised bulge, making it higher than the front half. This bulge was said to to offer further protection against the strong impact from spears and bladed weapons.
