Amago Haruhisa (March 8, 1514 –January 9, 1561) has been described by contemporaries as an impatient man, lacking the discipline of a leader, ever ready to fight, and unforgiving. Despite this negative assessment, Amago Haruhisa was a Warring States period feudal lord of Izumo Province and the governor of Izumo, Oki, Bizen, Bicchu, Bingo, Mimasaka, Inaba, and Hoki Provinces. Of the eleven western San'in and Sanyo region provinces, he concurrently served as the lord governor of eight provinces to become the greatest daimyo in the Chugoku region. He frequently fought with the Ouchi and Mori clans, all the while bringing the Amago clan to peak prominence.
