Deputy Shogun Hosokawa Takakuni committed seppuku on this day July 17, 1531

Hosokawa Takakuni was head of one of the many branches of the Hosokawa clan and among the most powerful military commanders of the politically complicated and violent Muromachi period (1336 to 1573) serving under the Ashikaga Shogunate. His life is the epitome of a Sengoku warlord, filled with danger, intrigue and continual fighting.
