Take a Sip of Sake, and Smash the Kawarake

Often at archeological excavations at samurai castle sites and warrior clan residences across Japan, researchers come across piles of broken, unglazed pottery shards that —once matched —  form small sake drinking vessels of the sakezuki type known as kawarake.
