Komaki Castle, Nobunaga's Innovative Template for Success
Oda Nobunaga's Innovations Influenced the Evolution of Samurai Castles.
The warlord Oda Nobunaga was a military genius. During his life he lived in six castles, Shobata, Nagoya, Kiyosu, and Gifu, but he only actually made two castles, Komaki and Azuchi. While Azuchi is internationally famed, and considered highly innovative in many aspects, the much smaller scaled Komaki Castle in Aichi Prefecture has, until recent years, gone largely ignored. Which is a pity, because Komaki played a very important role particularly in the evolution of samurai castles.
