Despite being blind in one eye, lame in one leg and with a deformed hand, Yamamoto Kansuke was one of the toughest, bravest and most able samurai warriors of the 16th century. The brilliant tactician was born in what is now Toyokawa City in Aichi Prefecture, and he was in the employ of the great Takeda Shingen of Kai (Yamanashi Prefecture) Recognized as one of the famed Twenty-four Generals of Takeda Shingen, Kansuke was also a castle designer.
