Oda Nobutaka, son of Nobunaga, surrendered to Hashiba (Toyotomi) Hideyoshi at Gifu Castle on this day, Dec 20, 1582.

Nobutaka’s father, Oda Nobunaga had been killed in the Honno-ji Incident just 6 months before, and despite taking part alongside Hideyoshi against Akechi Mitsuhide in the battle of Yamazaki in revenge for his fathers’ death, Nobutaka would be overlooked at the Kiyosu kaigi, the meeting staged at Kiyosu Castle to decide his fathers’ successor.
