Edo Period Minimal Samurai Helmets

Hitai-ate were a type of samurai headband-like armour, consisting of protective steel plates fastened around the forehead and worn in place of a helmet. They were sometimes made of several plates that extended over the front of the head, and in some cases featured extra protection in the form of armoured hoods.
