The Battle of Ishibashiyama took place at Ishibashiyama within the mountains of Hakone, on the southwestern coast not far from Odawara in Kanagawa Prefecture. Ishibashiyama was fought between the two great rival clans of the Heian Period, the Minamoto and the Taira clans. The Minamoto, fronted by Minamoto no Yoritomo consisted on just 300 troops, while the Taira, were commanded by Oba Saburo Kagechika, and boasted an army of over 3,000 warriors.
