The Battles of Komeno & Koda Kisogawa Toko
Two Skirmishes That Led to the Fall of Gifu Castle & the Battle of Sekigahara
The Battles of Komeno and Koda Kisogawa Toko, both fought separately but on the same day, August 22, 1600, were two little known but historically important battles fought in the the lead-up to the Attack on Gifu Castle, and part of the campaign that would culminate in the decisive Battle of Sekigahara.
Two years after the death of the second national unifier, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the spectre of civil war had once again loomed as the nation chose sides, West being those remaining loyal to the Toyotomi clan, and Bast, being those choosing to place their futures in the powerful Tokugawa clan for what would be the upcoming Battle of Sekigahara.
