Just west of the ruins of Kuwana Castle, along a narrow backstreet is a small graveyard, filled with thousands of closely packed headstones. Among the many stones are those of Ito Musaemon, master of Kuwana Castle’s predecessor, Higashi Castle. There is also a stone with the inscription Sengo Muramasa, the name of the famed sword-smith who lived and worked in Mie Prefectures’s Kuwana.
