The Seven Crests of Oda Nobunaga
Share

Every samurai clan had a crest, and most clans used multiple other crests for different circumstances. Oda Nobunaga is said to have used seven crests during his lifetime. Oda Nobunaga’s family crest was known as the Oda Mokkou, a version of the relatively common Mokkou class of crests, and also used by the Asakura clan of Echizen (Fukui Prefecture), although the Asakura featured only four outer ring segments, the Oda used five. Incidentally, the Asakura were destroyed by Nobunaga at the Battle of Anegawa in 1570.
