The Six Death Penalties of Old Japan

There were six different death penalties meted out to common and samurai criminals alike in Old Japan. For a samurai, being ordered to committ seppuku was a form of punishment, but seen as honourable. In the worst, most dishonourable, shameful scenario, a samurai could be simply beheaded.
