I suppose with a lot of people living in apartments and smaller homes fishtanks are a practical choice. Interesting there’s such a long history there.

Sounds a but fishy doesn't it? These were usually fish for garden ponds rather than aquarium type of smaller goldfish. These were often prized among samurai and the elite.
